Brunton Avenue Richmond VIC 3002 (2019 – 2022)

Proceeding: 453613 – In the matter of the Melbourne Cricket Ground
Status: before the Building Appeals Board of Victoria of Victoria – determined July 2022 ([2022] VBAB 105)

Tony’s role: expert witness for the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC), which was the entity responsible for operations at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), engaged and instructed by Ashurst Lawyers.
Description: The matter involved combustible cladding installed at the MCG’s Northern Stand. This included aluminium composite panels with a fire-retardant compound in their core (ACP FR). Tony surveyed the cladding arrangement and arranged for laboratory testing of samples of the different cladding types.
Tony provided an expert report in March 2022 recommending the retention of the low-risk ACP FR. His report was peer reviewed by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). Tony gave evidence at the hearing in April 2022. The Board accepted Tony’s performance solution and the matter was determined in July 2022.
